Dear Business Community,
It is a great privilege to serve as the President and CEO of the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. This year we will celebrate 36 years of business success. In August, 2007, the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce was also named “CHAMBER OF THE YEAR” by the California Hispanic Chamber of Commerce at their Convention and Business Expo in Long Beach, California.
Speaking of conventions, this year the National Convention was held in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico attracted many delegates (both USA and International). The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to hold the 29th Annual Convention and Business Expo September 24th – 27th, 2008. The Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce will be the host Chamber and we expect between 4,000 and 5,000 delegates. The USHCC will host a variety of workshops, chamber training, and business sessions focused on building business relationships and creating opportunities for participants from all industries in the U.S. and internationally.

Here are some important reasons for your involvement with the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
POPULATION AND ECONOMIC STRENGTH
Hispanics are the largest majority in the United States, with an estimated population of 41.3 million. They are estimated to grow by more than 1.7 million a year (source: US Census Bureau).
The number of Hispanic household (those with incomes of at least $100,000) rose 137 percent between 1990 and 2000 (source: US Census Bureau).
In 2002, there were ten states with the largest Hispanic markets by spending power, California included (source: Selig Center).
US Hispanic purchasing power has surged to nearly $700 billion and is projected to reach $1 trillion by 2010 (source: HispanTelligence).
BUSINESS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP
There are approximately 2 million Hispanic-owned businesses in the country that generate almost $300 Billion in annual gross receipts. By 2010, there will be 3.2 million Hispanic firms generating $465 Billion (source: Small Business Administration, HispanicTelligence)
In 2007 one out of every 10 small businesses is Hispanic (source: Hispanic Trends).
Small businesses make up 98 percent of all businesses and create the majority of new jobs added to the economy (source: Small Business Administration)
LATINA OWNED BUSINESS – The fastest growing segment of small businesses
Hispanic women-owned businesses number 553,618, they employ 320,000 and generate $44.4 billion in sales nationwide. (Source: Center for Women¹s Business Research, November 2004)
Latinas control 39 percent of the 1.4 million companies owned by minority women in the United States, which generate nearly $147 billion in sales. (Source: Center for Women¹s Business Research, November 2004)
Four in ten minority women-owned firms are owned by Latinas.
10 states with the greatest number of Hispanic women-owned firms in 2002 were California (17 %), Texas (18%), Florida (16%), New York (14%), Arizona (13%), Illinois, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New Mexico and Colorado (Source: Center for Women¹s Policy)
Due to this overwhelming success it only made sense to honor and make this year’s theme “Latinas, la sigiente ola” recognizing and rewarding business success on a local level. We look forward to your participation and support of our efforts.
