2008 SHCC Annual Business Awards and Recognition Banquet

Here’s your chance to shine in the limelight, to showcase your business, organization, or individuals, including yourself, and let everyone know what a difference an organization or individual has made in our community. You can inspire others to achieve success and keep the spirit of “free enterprise” going strong.
All Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (SHCC) members in good standing are encouraged to submit nominations for the 2008 SHCC Annual Business Awards. These awards are given annually to extraordinary individuals and organizations that have attained or contributed to business excellence.
The 2008 SHCC Annual Business Award winners will be announced at the 36th Annual SHCC Business Awards & Recognition Banquet on February 23, 2008 being held at the Sacramento Convention Center. Award winners receive recognition at the Banquet, SHCC press releases and publications and on the SHCC Website (www.sachcc.org).
Criteria for Eligibility:
Who can enter?
All current SHCC members in “good standing”.
Evaluation Criteria for SHCC Business Awards
- Member in good standing of SHCC
- Major Accomplishments achieved in the areas of business, economic development, procurement, and /or access to capital
- Leadership of quality of service provided to the Hispanic Community
- Best Practices and the innovation of programs or services that promote the growth of Hispanic Businesses
- Measurable results and the effective communication of outcomes to the Hispanic business community
Judging:
The SHCC Business Awards & Recognition Banquet Committee will coordinate the awards program. The Committee will judge and make recommendations to the SHCC Board of Directors. Award winners will be selected in each of the categories. However, judges reserve the right not to select a winner in each category depending on the quality and appropriateness of the entries.
Entry Materials:
Each entry must contain five (5) sets of clearly labeled materials. Each set must include:
- Completed and signed entry form
- Information requested for the Category in which you are entering or recommending (maximum of one page, typed and double-spaced).
- Submit only one entry per category. All materials received will become the property of SHCC and will not be returned.
- Business Logo and/or 5x7 photo(s) of the nominee, as applicable. Logos must be in high resolution (300 dpi) TIFF format. Contact the SHCC for more information at 916.486.7700.
- Supporting documentation (awards, print media articles, photos, videos, etc.)

Business Awards Categories
Business Woman of the Year/Business Man of the Year
For either of these categories, please provide the following:
- The nominee’s resume
- A brief, historical overview of the business and its mission, and relevant background information describing the nominee’s accomplishments in the business arena.
- Organizations that the nominee or nominee’s company belongs to that directly benefit the Hispanic community.
- A list of awards or recognition bestowed on the nominees or nominee’s company within the last three years.
- Supporting materials that substantiate the effectiveness and ultimate success of the nominee’s achievements.
Corporate Hispanic Business Advocate of the year
- A brief historical overview of the business and its mission, relevant information describing the nominee’s accomplishments in the Hispanic community
- A description of the Hispanic organizations with which the nominee has been affiliated and in what capacity
- A description of how the nominee’s significant contributions have impacted the Hispanic business community
- A description of significant contributions the organization has made to the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
Governmental/Community-based/Non-profit organization/Individual of the year
- A brief historical overview of the business ant its mission, relevant information describing the nominee’s accomplishments in the Hispanic community
- A description of how the nominee’s significant contributions have impacted the Hispanic business community
- A description of significant contributions the organization has made to the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
Volunteer of the Year
- Nominees Resume
- An overview of the nominee’s involvement with the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
- A list of significant volunteer projects in which the nominee has participated.
