Inaugural State of the Hispanic Community
A presentation and panel discussion about regional trends including population shifts.
Held June 9, 2010 at the Sacramento State Alumni Center.
The Hispanic market represents the largest minority segment and its growth is inspiring. As we approach major population shifts in our region due to Latino growth, it is important that the regional leadership anticipate this growth and factor it into long term planning. This growth is not simply an issue for the Latino community, but for the region as a whole. It impacts everything from land use to transportation to education to health to workforce to recreation and so on. For that reason, all leadership (civic, business, education, etc), Latino and non-Latino alike, must have an eye on these trends. The purpose of this event is to help regional leadership be well informed as they plan for a prosperous future.
Speakers provided a demographic presentation regarding the current state of the Latino community in the region and what trends can be projected and will give an understanding of the many implications arising from our region’s projected growth patterns.
